Airshow Press. Airshow event required colour newspaper advertisements in a range of sizes, from full page, to 28x5 and 20x3 sizes.
With a large number of mandatory requirements (sponsors, naming sponsor, schedule details etc.) there is a large volume of content to fit and it could easily become chaotic and difficult for the reader to follow.
A strong theme is provided by masking the bright purple and yellow stunt plane, then using it in different positions/sizes on each ad. Thereby it provides colour and interest, but also a common thread of design.
The other key was to retouch an image of a plane trailing smoke so that it was large enough to work as a background banner to hold the headline. This is used consistently across all ad sizes.
