Starting from scratch. Previous retouch from another agency had a range of minor and significant flaws, cumulating in an unbelievable final image.
Some flaws were insignificant on their own, but viewed as a whole did not provide a level of acceptable quality for the client.
Main flaw was excessively blurred background, with no movement of the foreground track which the subjects are supposedly moving through. Retouch addressed this with reduced blur of background, and accurate masking to isolate subjects, fore and midground areas and apply appropriate motion blur to each to achieve a realistic result.
Accurate masking also corrected previous 'fringing' particularly noticeable on subjects hair (view third image sample for close up).
Note - the retouched image is noisier than the original. Raw source image was very noisy and reduction of this adversely effected edge detail (as seen in original retouch). Compromise reached to be retaining more detail at the expense of more noise being visible.
